Our Bookstore Cat

Every cool brick and mortar bookstore that I’ve ever been to has had a cat in residence. Since this is a very awesome shop, we now have a bookstore cat too. Since he (and everyone else other than Sue) isn’t allowed near the inventory room and since this is an internet store, he can’t jump off of bookshelves or do figure eights around your ankles. He’ll have to settle on being the promotions manager. He also has aspirations of becoming an advice columnist too. He’s very wise. (It was this idea of his during the interview that got him hired.)

Like his “owner” , (I use this term very loosely), this cat has a story. That can wait because this cat now has a job and is busy in training. I didn’t tell him that there’s hardly any work involved (for him anyway) and that his new job will be fun every day.

Training, however, takes time and a lot of effort. He’s busy right now on the couch dreaming up new promotions, giveaways, and advice columns. Later on he plans to perch in the sun while still pondering ways to make Sue really busy during the Christmas rush. During dinner and treats he’ll be wondering how he can get the word out about all of the great stuff in his store. Yes, he’s already calling it “his” store. He’s a hard-working cat for sure. The right cat for the store.
